As an IAS officer

Credit my juniors, those who work on the lower levels to execute everything. Credit them by name, else they may feel ignored and grow resentful.

Do not speak to any member of a meeting once the meeting has concluded. All must leave your office together, lest there be possibility of closed-door discussion or of people trying to change your views in secret.

Keep in mind to periodically take a ride in autos or cabs instead of the official vehicle. In these, ask the drivers how things are going. Sit in the front seat, have your helped behind to take notes. Listen, and ask. never say.

Keep in mind that noise pollution is a great issue, and treat it seriously. Look for causes and attempt to educate.

Approach university Psychology departments and encourage research into the addictions plaguing a district. I will also look at the impact of advertisement, and attempt to reduce them.

Hire kids from gaming cafes.

Schedule a fun activity like a water fight on a lawn, with all my staff from the lowest to the highest.

I must not accept any gift from anybody. Doing so can lead to being indebt. If they wish to let me know how much they appreciate me, let them do good deeds. Let these gifts then be redirected to the poor and the needy.

I must not drink or smoke. The task of administration is the task of dealing with the lives of many. The hands that hold these lives cannot shiver in anxiety nor addiction. What do I need to drink? Let me be intoxicated by work. I do not know if I will drink again in my life, but if I do, it will not be during my tenure. It cannot be done.

Drinking and smoking will set a bad example to many. In any mistakes I make, these flaws will be brought out. People will then proceed to exploit me. I am a common man, and the common man is sober. I must represent the greatest qualities of the common man. His determination, honesty and sobriety.

I must not attend social gatherings beyond sundown. Any reason for losing sleep must be duty and duty alone. Otherwise, I have no business staying up and outside my home. The darkness has negative energy. I am prone to danger in the dark. Poor decisions will be made in the darkness, unless for duty.
