The first step is to know when you should step back

Sometimes, in the time before we go on an exchange, people tell us what we need to do in order to enjoy our experience. But even if heard a lot of times “You need to get close to people” they missed one point: we can’t tell who will like us.
Something amazing about Finns is how they can trust in you once, and then, they’ll trust in you all your life. Since my program was a short one I was afraid of not having friends and it was hard to make them. But it’s something about the right time.
I met all my friends in different moments and situations, but I met them. It doesn’t matter if I was two months or more in Finland.
So sometimes it’s about waiting and not pressing people to get close to you. Interest, more like curiosity, is something about the human being that makes relations between anything and if people is not interest in you, it’s going to be hard to get close to them.
So give them reasons to get close, to trust in you before you approach and talk with them.
You’ll see how easy is after that.
