Straight Lines

We were to draw the ground, and I kept making straight lines to an unconvincing result. It seemed unnatural. Then my friend showed me that it’s not a one shot process, you sketch it out instead of using a ruler. It looked uneven and broken but natural.

Now that I look back at it I realize an  old flaw.

Perfection. I couldn’t bear not having straight lines. I wanted what I thought people liked. In my 12 year old head, straight lines were the norm but sometimes you need uneven lines which look natural. I like to think that it shows that mistakes are natural and give character. It’s possible to be flawless, but then how will you connect with people as we connect with mistakes- is perfection worth the disconnection?

They’re more likely to envy you rather than admire you. They’ll excuse their inability by picking on you and asking ‘Is perfection worth the disconnection’- like me right now.

I recently won a competition in my organization, yet I am recognized for burning simple microwave popcorn which is much more funny, because people relate more to mistakes than winners. How many times has someone asked you about ‘that test you got a 100% in'?

A 5 person race has 4 losers after all.
